Gabriel Ferrandini, PT

Born in California, U.S., Gabriel Ferrandini is the son of a Portuguese father, who was born in Mozambique and Brazilian mother with Italian heritage. Since he was nine years old, he has lived in Lisbon, where he discovered jazz and the practice of improvisation. This international background has been the fertile cradle from which this unique drummer has developed a style which combines guts, heart and brain. Considered as one of the most inspiring young jazz drummers in Portugal and Europe. He regularly plays with Rodrigo Amado’s Motion Trio, Red Trio, Nobuyasu Furuya Trio, and the electro-acoustic/noise band Flu. An avid musical explorator, not afraid to step beyond his comfort zone’s Ferrandini’s talent and attitude has lead to many cross-discipliary collaborations and he has played on various releases on the respected jazz label, Clean Feed Records/Portugal.
