Tiago Morna, PT
Tiago Morna, is a Portuguese guitar player and collector of sonic memories. A native of Lisbon, his approach creates a bridge between the old urban song (Fado) and new conceptions of Portuguese identity. Originally trained in sculpture, his sonic style and approach is a mix of improvisation and melody, delivered straight from the heart. Considered as one of the most interesting cross-over artists in his field, Morna’s influences draw on the history of Portuguese guitar as defined by Carlos Paredes, Amália Rodrigues, among others. He is a founding member of the project ‘Nas Margens do Fado’, with Nuno Estevens (viola) and Daniela Giblott (vocal) and also plays Portuguese guitar with the experimental hip-hop band, Macacos do Chinês.
